As a result I have opted for purchasing shoes from Supermarkets, this proved to be a much better price range. I managed to buy my daughter 3 pairs for £20. All 3 are practical and age appropriate. Granted there are some fashion shoes which are not really appropriate for younger children, however there are some older children and adults who have very small feet therefore these shoes are probably designed with these people in mind.
In response to those who claim that shoes purchased from Clarks are professionally fitted, yes this is true however I have found that there are a few simple tests you can do as a parent to find out if your child's shoes fit without having to go to Clarks or any other of these type of stores.
The pairs my daughter had today I checked the following:
- Is her toe at the end?
- Is her foot buldging out the side or top of the shoe?
- Can she walk comfortably in them?
- Does it slip and slide when she is walking?
At the end of the day it is up to the parent where they buy their child's shoes. The purpose of this post is purely to highlight the fact that there are other options for those who either don't want to or can't afford to pay vast amounts for their child's shoes when they are usually only in them for around 6 weeks.
