In September my eldest daughter will be starting school. The first step in the process is the November before your child is due to start school apply to your LEA (Local Education Authority) this can be done online through your council's website. Usually the deadline for this is January and you get the decision in May. Shortly after this the school at which your child has been accepted will be in touch.
My daughter is going a village school; her teacher arranged a home visit. During this visit there is the opportunity to have questions answered. Other things that are covered in this visit are:
- Dates for your diary
- Opportunity to order any uniform
- Any relevant paperwork is given to you.
Your child's teacher will work with you to help the transition into school as stress free as possible.
