Some people claim that Facebook is great as it enables people to keep in touch with each other, it's fun and it's free. Others would argue that it is one of the worst things ever because of all the hassle it causes when people fall out and start insulting each other on there, which then encourages others to join in. I personally think that if it is used properly then it is fine but that applies to all forms of communication as if used properly they allow people to convey their messages, but no form should be used for bullying someone else.
Businesses have also started to utilise Facebook as a form of advertising and if done properly then it can be very effective assuming that your target audience actually uses it.
