Originally in released in 2002 in Chinese it is the story of a person who has a cornea transplant and then sees ghosts. It was redone in 2008 by the Americans who used a blind violinist as the main character, played by Jessica Alba.
It briefly touches on the idea of cellular memory, which is the idea that the cells retain information and so when transplanted the information is then transferred from donor to recipient. In "The Eye" the information was in the corneas which leads Sydney who is the main character in the American version to see ghosts and then embark on a journey to discover more about the donor. I am not going to spoil it for you by telling you how it ends but I have to admit that I am intrigued by the idea of cellular memory and whether there is actually any truth in it or whether it is purely a theory.
In some respects I can see how it would work as it has been shown that even after death evidence of the person's lifestyle is evident in both the bones and soft tissue which is made up of cells for example if the donor was a smoker am guessing his/her organs would contain evidence of this however am unsure whether they could contain anything in terms psychological information. This can't be proven as there is no tangible evidence when it comes to psychology so for now that is in the grey area between fact and fiction.
