Class 1 Camp Out

Some of the families from Class 1, mine included arranged a camping trip for the weekend. In total there were 7 families that went granted we were only a few miles up the road but Friday afternoon consisted of loading up the cars with our camping stuff, driving to the site and pitching the tent. We then went and fetched the kids from school brought them back to the campsite, got them changed and then headed into town to watch the Olympic torch pass through Ashbourne whilst munching fish and chips.

Once the procession had finished we returned to the site and the party began with 2 fires going we let the kids run around and play on the bouncy castle that 1 family had bought with them. When they were worn out we guided them back to the right tents and put them into bed. The rest of the evening was spent laughing and joking and enjoying a few drinks.

Day 2 began in the usual way of bleary eyed parents sorting out breakfast and getting the kids dressed etc. At 10:00 we went to the supermarket to get stuff for lunch and the BBQ. In between munching on the food we had brought the kids amused themselves. During the BBQ supper the heavens opened and a few of us abandoned ship when we discovered that we had a leaky tent so we bundled the kids and some of the stuff like the kids toys and the clothes into the car and went home. Those who stayed told us that they only had a few dry hours and it wasn't much fun that night.

The next day we went back to retrieve the tent and the rest of the stuff we had left the night before. All but 2 of the tents had been packed away by the time we got there and those 2 were planning to leave the tents to dry out a bit.

Overall it has been a great weekend and will definitely be doing it again.
